The Advantage Podcast Mixtape: Vol I
I made a mixtape for you.
This post was going to be kind of a best-of-advantage-type-podcasts, but there are too many of them out there1. So instead I tried to distill things into just one good mix. I’m calling it Vol 1, so that hopefully I can come back with Vol 2, Vol 3, etc in the future. Also if you know of good single episodes, be sure to drop them in the comments.
Stan Druckenmiller - In Good Company - Public Markets
If you’ve ever wondered if you’re betting too much, have you considered you’re not betting enough? There are lots of good tidbits in this podcast, but my favorite quotes really were about betting big.
Don Johnson -Blackjack Apprenticeship - Casino Loss Rebates
This episode has the benefit of taking place several years after Don Johnson won his millions of dollars from Atlantic City casinos. As a result, he seems more open to talking about some of the details.
David Benefield - Brandon Adams Podcast - Poker and Crypto
David was one of the original Ship It Holla Ballas. He talks about his early life in poker and then more recently setting up the infrastructure to invest his own money.
Ed Thorp - Tim Ferris Podcast - Advantage Play and Quant Investing
No explanation needed.
Marco Blume - The Business of Betting - Bookmaking
Marco Blume started out as a Magic the Gathering player before becoming a bookmaker. He is the head trader for sharp bookmaker Pinnacle. Marco takes the mysticism out of bookmaking and says basically: it’s just like all trading.
Michael Sall - Gamblers - Gin Rummy
David Hill’s “Gamblers” is a deeply reported podcast2 and this episode is one of my favorites.
Haralabos Voulgaris - Be Better Bettors - Sportsbetting
Even if you’ve heard Voulgaris on other media, I think hearing him talk one-on-one with another bettor is worth the listen here. I liked the part where Voulgaris grudgingly gave Spanky props for picking off plays in the early 2000s.
Kelly Sun - Gambling With an Edge - Baccarat Edge Sorting
Kelly talks about her play with Phil Ivey that was worth millions of dollars in casino wins (and ultimately led to multiple lawsuits).
Diggs - Circles Off - Sportsbetting
If you enjoyed the recent episode titled “Trial and Error,” then you heard that Thomas credits gambling Twitter with changing his life. Well Diggs is one of the founding members of gambling Twitter / C’ville. In this episode he talks about both his role in gambling Twitter, and also his career as a bettor.
PingPong - Blackjack Apprenticeship - Casino Advantage Play
A prototypical AP story.
Cartwright - Gambling With an Edge - Casino Advantage Play
Cartwright was on four episodes of Gambling With an Edge back in the day, but this one is my favorite. This episode is about finding a blackjack variant where the rules were vulnerable to changing basic strategy.
Someone could make an awesome list of just GWAE episodes without mentioning any other podcasts.
This is very different than a Risk of Ruin podcast, which is basically just a single interview chopped up.

Amazing and much appreciated! I just started re-listening to Risk of Ruin episodes b/c I didn't have anything new and now I can dig into these.
If you ever do an AMA, could you talk about how you approach investing? You talk about it a bit in the Citrini episode but I (and others?) would love to hear more.
