On December 16 I linked to a very good Paul Kedrosky piece about the diminishing returns of AI. I think I ticked the absolute bottom in terms of AI excitement.

In the month+ since that post it’s pretty clear there has been a reacceleration in AI sentiment. What’s surprising is that it’s also probably supported by actual utility. Folks got excited about Claude Code first, then Anthropic produced Cowork in a week. And the most recent meme on Twitter has been Clawdbot.1

Now the companies that have a piece of Anthropic are seeing an actual impact in the prices of their own stocks.

I am actually not on Claude Code. I remain stuck in the dark ages of Cursor.

Actually, I ran out of Cursor credits on the 10th of the month, initially topped off my credits twice to finish the project I was working on, and then found a different solution.
